What to do When you Have Kids
By John Grocke
Life is pretty easy when we only have to look after ourselves. We enjoy a freedom that we take for granted and responsibilities are not too onerous. My, how that changes when we have kids!
There are many & varied things that then come onto our radar. Lack of sleep, increased responsibility, never ending feeding schedules not to mention the continuous taxi service for schools, parties, sport and hobbies. Amongst all of these are the need for never ending financial security.
While we consider we are 'bullet proof', unexpected things do happen which can wreck our financial security. Personal insurance is generally not one of the first things we think about when we are planning for our family but plays an essential role in having a sound financial foundation. After all we insure a house or car but our earning capability is often taken for granted.
One of the highest priorities when planning for your family should be a Financial Health Check. This can include reviewing your Life Insurance, Total and Permanent Disablement Cover, and your Income Protection. This way you can ensure if anything were to happen to you and/or your partner, your dependants are financially looked after.
If you are a young family, arrange to see someone for a check-up as soon as you can! Don’t leave your family in financial stress!
